There's been a lot on the news lately about health insurance, politics, and how the whole thing works together. Here's what you need to know. As we end 2025, there's three things. I call them the trifecta of change that's gonna affect how health insurance is consumed and used in the Affordable Care Act.

First of all, we have the one big, beautiful bill. And while it really didn't change a whole lot for health insurance, it's implementing some things to make it a little more stricter to qualify for benefits. Second of all, we have the sunset of COVID era subsidies, which means there's gonna be less federal money available for folks to purchase plans in the Affordable Care Act. And thirdly, we have a big CMS rule change that will affect how you qualify to receive these subsidies.

So as you enter into this next open enrollment period, which happens from November 1st and December 15th this year for plans starting in 2026, it's important that you recognize rules in all three of those. The one big, beautiful bill, the sunset of COVID era subsidies, and the CMS rule changes will all potentially affect the plans that you have, the money you receive from Uncle Sam to help you pay for them, and the out-of-pocket costs you'll be responsible for. So make sure that you plan early so you're not caught by surprise with the trifecta of change that's coming here in 2026.
